Ville de Cannes Grand Prix: Victory to Roger-Yves Bost
The second round of the Gran Prix at the Global Champions Tour of Cannes resulted in victory to Roger-Yves Bost in the saddle of Ideal de la Loge with a double clear run. The French rider thoroughly deserved his ovation from the public as the second round of the Grand Prix was particularly testing; only two pairings out of 18 participating finished without faults. Other than the eventual winner there was also Albert Zoer on Okidoki, who however paid the penalty for a fault on the oxer in the first round which cost the rider from the Netherlands four points and pushed him down to fifth place. Tucked in behind Bost were German Daniel Deusser (Ad Aboyeur W), Brit Ben Maher (Robin Hood W), Irishman Denis Lynch (Lantinus 3), while French rider Penélopé Leprevost ( Mylord Carthago Hn) came sixth after Zoer. Jonella Ligresti (Quintero 4) came 16th after an excellent first round (only one fault) but paid the price of the difficult second round with 14 faults. Gianni Govoni withdrew after the first round when he had already accrued 16 faults at the half-way point. La Marseillaise rang out for the winner as he completed his lap of honour to bring down the curtain on the Grand Prix in traditional style. With victory, Bost has joined Brazilian rider Bernardo Alves, winner in Hamburg, in equal third place in the GCT 2009 standings. The next event is in Monte Carlo from June 25-27.
