Vintage carriages on parade at the Argentario
From June 25 – 28 on the playing fields of the Argentario Polo Club one of the most important events centred around horse-drawn carriages. The president of the Tuscan FISE (Italian Equestrian Sport Federation) regional committee, Cav. Adolfo Paul Gross, enthusiastic about the new structure at the polo centre, did not hesitate to award the Argentario Club the chance to host the combined driving show. Combined driving is an equestrian discipline where the horse is not ridden, but rather where a carriage that is attached is driven by a single horse, a tandem or four. Something that has not been altered by time is the equipment used such as the riding crop and the various techniques of harnessing the horses to the carriages. The technology has been updated for only a few classes of races, i.e. to improve performance a sophisticated breaking mechanism with disk breaks has been mounted as well as special equipment to delay steering, not to mention the materials used to construct the carriage frames which are in continuous development from the point of view of shape, balance, weight, etc. If you desire further information about this discipline please don’t hesitate to contact us…
