The second day of competition in the dressage, reining and para-dressage disciplines is taking place today at the WEG.
Yesterday in the dressage, the German rider Isabell Werth with Bella Rose dominated proceedings and she continues to lead the provisional standings on 81.529% followed by fellow team-mate Christina Sprehe on Desperados FRH. The final podium slot is currently occupied by Spain’s Morgan Barbancon on Painted Black.
The leadership could change though because there are still many top stars yet to perform. These include Denmark’s Anna Kasprzak on Donnperignon, Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmsons Silfvèn, Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg with Damon Hill NRW and the record breaking pair Charlotte Dujardin with her super Valegro.
The Italian hopes lie with star Valentina Truppa with Fixdesign Eremo del Castegno. Here is an overview of the other Italian pairs that so far have set a score:
Ester Soldi 43rd Harmonia – 66.300%
Leonardo Tiozzo 51st Randon – 65.157%
Federica Scolari 55th Beldonwelt – 64.429%

Let’s focus on reining now which still sees Andrea Fappani, born in Italy but a US resident for many years and representing the stars and stripes, in first place. Fappani has taken the leadership of the provisional standings with Custom Cash Advance after a score of 224 but will have to be wary of Belgian Bernard Fonck, his great rival who is yet to take to the field with Sail On Top Whizard.
As for the Italian representatives, Eleonora Manerba is currently 15th with Rooster Nic (215), Gennaro Lendi 23rd with Piccolo Spanish (213) and Pietro Artinghelli 28th on Samurai Snap (212). Stefano Angelucci is 30th for the moment with AB Captain Badger, while Giuseppe Prevosti on Boemil Twin Robotop still has to set a score.

In the individual trial, Sophie Wells with Valerius is currently in the lead (74.595%), followed by Belgium’s George Michele on FBW Rainman in second and Holland’s Frank Hosmar with Alphaville NOP.
The Italian hope Silvia Ciarrocchi occupies 16th spot with Royandic (58.00). There are two more trials scheduled for the afternoon in the para-dressage discipline. For all the results, please see: http://www.normandy2014.com/live/8/para-dressage
