Morocco Royal Tour celebrates its 15th anniversary with historic CSI5*-W upgrade in El Jadida
The Morocco Royal Tour is set to celebrate a landmark edition in 2026 as the prestigious circuit marks its 15th anniversary with its most ambitious programme to date. Running from 1 to 18 October, the tour will once again connect the iconic cities of Tetouan, Rabat and El Jadida, bringing together leading Moroccan and international riders for three consecutive weeks of world-class show jumping.
Far more than a celebration of its history, the 2026 edition signals the beginning of a new era for the circuit. For the first time, El Jadida will host a CSI5-W*, elevating the Morocco Royal Tour to an even higher level on the international calendar.
Created with the vision of establishing Morocco as a major destination for international equestrian sport while showcasing the country’s heritage, landscapes and renowned hospitality, the Morocco Royal Tour has steadily expanded over the past fifteen years. Improved sporting standards, enhanced facilities and an increasingly international field of competitors have transformed the series into one of the highlights of the FEI season.
Throughout its history, the circuit has welcomed Olympic champions, international medallists and many of the sport’s biggest names, while simultaneously providing a platform for the continued development of Moroccan show jumping. The tour has also consistently strengthened its commitment to horse welfare, organisational excellence and first-class hospitality for riders, teams and spectators.
“The Morocco Royal Tour has evolved over the past fifteen years and continues to impress us with every edition. Both in terms of sport and organisation, it remains at the forefront. The upgrade of the El Jadida leg to CSI5* and CSI2* competition once again demonstrates its continuous growth,” said Moroccan Senior National Champion Hicham Er Radi.
Italian international Emanuele Gaudiano, winner of the Tetouan and El Jadida Grands Prix in 2023, also praised the circuit’s evolution: “I’ve been competing at the Morocco Royal Tour for more than ten years and have seen it improve year after year. Today, the tour fully deserves its CSI5* status.”
The history of the Morocco Royal Tour is closely intertwined with that of Moroccan Olympic rider Abdelkebir Ouaddar, whose performances have inspired generations of riders and helped establish Morocco as a respected nation in international show jumping.
The 2026 edition also introduces significant upgrades to the opening two legs of the tour. In both Tetouan and Rabat, the former CSI1* competitions will become CSI2* events, complementing the existing CSI4*-W and CSIO4*-W fixtures. The Rabat leg will additionally serve as a qualifying event for the 2027 European Championship.
The season will culminate in El Jadida, where the inaugural CSI5-W*, alongside a CSI2*, will represent the highest level of international competition ever hosted by the Morocco Royal Tour and underline the organisers’ ambitions for the future.
The 2026 Morocco Royal Tour schedule is as follows:
- Tetouan (1-4 October): CSI4*-W & CSI2*
- Rabat (7-11 October): CSIO4*-W & CSI2* (2027 European Championship qualifier)
- El Jadida (15-18 October): CSI5*-W & CSI2*
With these upgrades, the Morocco Royal Tour enters its fifteenth edition ready to strengthen its position among the world’s premier show jumping circuits, while continuing to nurture Moroccan talent and offer an increasingly prestigious sporting spectacle on the global stage.
