Roger-Yves Bost and Henrik von Eckermann complete the podium

The highlight of the second day of the CSI5*-W IFEMA MADRID HORSE WEEK was the Estrella Damm Trophy at 1.50 m, featuring the Winning Round format. The event concluded with just 12 clear rounds.

It all began with Niels Bruynseels‘ swift performance riding “Nauwsika van de Pereboom” Shortly after, Max Kühner surpassed the Belgian’s time with “Eic Julius Caesar“.

Next up was Roger-Yves Bost on “Ballerine du Vilpion“: the pair crossed the finish line cleanly, improving the Austrian’s time to 35.72 seconds.

In the end, Nicola Philippaerts and “Derby de Riverland” managed to outdo them all, stopping the clock at just 35.28 seconds, closing the Winning Round with the best time and no penalties.

The competition concluded with the world number one, Henrik von Eckermann, on “Dzara Dorchival” the pair that had won the main class the previous day. The Swede made an attempt but couldn’t surpass Philippaerts, finishing with a time of 35.78 seconds, insufficient for another victory.

Nicola Philippaerts claimed victory with “Derby de Riverland” a son of “Kannan” that he has been riding for a short time. Before him, his brother Thibault had participated in some competitions with Derby de Riverlamd: a successful track record as they have consistently completed clear rounds in the last seven competitions. In Madrid, the Belgian rider and his 10-year-old horse confirmed their competitiveness.

The second place went to Roger-Yves Bost, while Henrik von Eckermann completed the podium.
